Artists presented with Golden Apricot Blossom Awards

Winners of the Mai Vang (Golden Apricot Blossom) Awards 2010 for three groups of music, stage and cinematography-television were honoured at an awards ceremony at Hoa Binh theatre in Ho Chi Minh City on January 22.

In the Music awards groupsection, singer Dam Vinh Hung achieved the highest honour with the ‘Favourite Male Pop Singer’ and ‘Favourite Male Country Singer’ titles. The ‘Favourite Female Pop Singer’ and ‘Favourite Female Country Singer’ prizes went to Thanh Thao and Cam Ly.Viet Nam Nam 2020’ (Vietnam in 2020) by songwriter Le Quang was acknowledged as the ‘Favourite Song’.

Artist Hoai Linh won ‘Best Comediany Actor’ in the Stage groupsection. ‘Best Stage Play’ was awarded to ‘Ong Ngoai Ba Noi’ (Maternal Grandfather – Paternal Grandmother). Vo Minh Lam and Le Khanh bagged won the ‘Favourite Male and Favourite Female Stage Artists’ awards.

In the Cinematography-Television groupsection, young artists Phung Ngoc Huy and Van Trang earned prizes for the category of ‘Favourite TV Actor and Actress’. ‘Best Movie Actor and Actress’ were given to Ly Hung and Lan Ngoc. Phan Anh of the TV programme Vietnam Idol was honoured as the ‘Favourite Master of Ceremonyies’ (MC) and ‘Film of the Year’ belonged to ‘Cong Mat Troi’ (The Sun Gate).

The award winners awere chosen by readers of the printed and online versions of Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, who canould send a text message to 8577 or log on to the website: maivang.nld.com.vn frombetween December 10 2010 to January 10, 2011.

The Awards have been held annually by the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper since 1995 to honour individuals and groups of artists who have made significant contributions to culture and the arts. They are recognised as professional awards, and have become quite popular, drawing attention and great interest from the public.
